Background:
The South Florida Workforce Investment Board (SFWIB) is charged with planning and ensuring that monitoring/oversight of Local Workforce Investment Area (LWIA) services and activities are conducted in accordance to Federal, State and local statutory / regulatory requirements. The SFWIB is unique in that the Regional Workforce area is comprised of Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. The SFWIB is responsible for workforce development policy direction and oversight for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA):
The ARRA, signed by President Obama of February 17, 2009, is intended to preserve and create jobs, promote the nation's economic recovery and to assist the most impacted by the recession. The Recovery Act will bring more the $21.8 million to our workforce region for job training and employment related services. The President has made it clear that every tax payer dollar spent on our economic recovery must be subject to unprecedented levels of transparency and accountability. This site is intended to be a resource of updated information pertaining to how ARRA/WIA funds are utilized within the South Florida region.
