If you recently arrived to the United States - 60 months or less - you may qualify to receive assistance with finding a job, learning raining, skills training and other services leading to self-sufficiency.

The South Florida Workforce serves three types of eligible refugees:

The South Florida Workforce offers refugees social service referrals and information about other community resources that help newly arrived entrants live independently, and become self-sufficient.

Eligible refugees / entrants / asylum seekers must provide documentation to prove immigration status and identification before acceptance in any of the programs - listed below.

 

Refugee Programs offered:

 

EMPLOYMENT

The primary purpose of the Refugee Employment Program is to provide assistance to newly arrived refugees by finding them employment to maintain self-sufficiency. Refugee Service Partners are capable of finding a match between the needs, abilities, and goals of individuals and the right employer.

 

 

CAREER LADDERING

A program designed to assist refugees that are employed and not working at their skill level. SFW will assess eligible clients and either train, enter into employed worker contracts, on-the-job training or assist in the credentialing of prior education. This new program allows for assistance to refugees that have been in the country for less 5 years if they have legal status and have not attained citizenship.

 

 

ON-THE-JOB TRAINING (OJT)

The primary purpose of the Refugee Employment Program is to provide assistance to newly arrived refugees by finding them employment to maintain self-sufficiency. Refugee Service Partners are capable of finding a match between the needs, abilities, and goals of individuals and the right employer.

 

REFUGEE SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM
Youth ages 14-18 can receive valuable work experience and get paid. The Refugee Summer Youth Program offers part-time positions, 20 hours per week or less, in non-profit organizations. Apply at one of the service partners in the directory below. In order to qualify, a candidate must have employment authorization from INS.
